Children with apraxia of speech need to move! Common phrases and sentences are useful for improving motor planning skills for everyday language. Focus on vowel switching initially. Then worry about consonant production. If a child can produce the correct vowels in a phrase/sentence, that child is much more likely to be understood. Of course, always take the advice of your own speech-language pathologist for the most effective practice.
Children with autism most often need direct intervention for comprehension and use of these such phrases. Another set is coming that includes slightly longer common short sentences for manding and using descriptive language.
