Meet the Maker

Welcome to SewFancybyJulie.  I live in a small town in South Dakota, and have lived, with my husband for 25 years.  After his discharge from the Air Force in 1975, we returned to our home state of Michigan.  How did I get to South Dakota, he took a job transfer and here I  am and loving it.

I have always sewn my own clothing, as well as, for my children and grandchildren.  After retiring, I discovered machine embroidery.  I love every minute of what I do.  I do it to offer prospective buyers options they can't find in the big box stores.

I do items for the kitchen, pot holders, table runners, embroidered kitchen towels, and so much more.  I am a one woman show.  I do all the product making, product listing and mailing myself.  It's a lot of work, but you never work a day in your life if you love what you do.  I love what I do.

Please come by and take a look around, my shop is small for now and I plan on expanding my shop as time goes by.

If you have any questions or requests, please feel free to contact me and I'll see if I can help you.

Thank you,

Julie

How it’s Made

First I choose my fabrics and then I hoop the stabilizer in the hoop.  The next step is to begin the steps of the embroidery by adding the fabric and doing the embroidery design.

Next I add one piece of lining and stitch that down.  The next step is to add one piece of backing fabric, batting and second piece of fabric.  After that is stitched down, I trim around it and do the finish satin stitch edge.

Removing it from the hoop and cleaning the outer edges. Then add the snap and it's finished.

Everything is handmade by me.

Shop Reviews ()

I saw Julie's mug rugs and had an idea to have custom sayings on them. Julie was so very gracious and fully willing to fulfill my order. Julie was very responsive, excellent communication, and the mug rugs I received are exquisite! Such beautiful craftswomanship. I can't wait to give these beautiful little mug rugs as gifts - and keep one or two for myself! Thank you, Julie. ♥♥

The towels I purchased were absolutely adorable. I bought them for my mother-in-law but seriously contemplated keeping them for myself. Might be back to get myself a set.

I ordered two mini potholder/oven mitt sets with chile peppers fabric for my daughters and another set with poinsettia fabric for my own kitchen. A clever design "craftily" executed with charming fabric choices.
