Shasta Miller Art
Meet the Maker
As an artist growing up in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains I became drawn to the unknown of abstract art. The bold colors and brushstrokes intrigued me much more than the pretty paintings of barns and horses that were seen all over galleries near my hometown. Instead, each color and stroke of my brush was like an orchestra coming together with the voice of each instrument. I started studying the relationship each color played with one another and how they can produce a mood without any recognizable object, just lines, brushstrokes, and colors. After years of fighting those Appalachian roots, I've learned to embrace them. I've realized simplicity is where my inspiration lives. While keeping a vibrant palette and a touch of my abstract beginnings I've found a sophisticated, but whimsical style to reflect my personality. With age came the wisdom to appreciate the character and beauty this world holds and the carefree imagination to allow for a unique interpretation. While I love to venture into many other mediums my inspiration always leads me back to where my roots began...on the canvas, capturing what I see in my head and watching other people's interpretations of my paintings. We all have different eyes and different ways to see the world. I hope my paintings inspire you to look at the world differently, maybe a little through my eyes, maybe see how each stroke, each color project a feeling, a smell, an emotion. Ah, the joy of art!
