About this Product
The name of the design is Fantail Turkey, but he's such a colourful bird that I named him LibIRDace when I was hooking his feathers! I made this rug with hand hooked wool strips on a linen base. He would love to be in view for Thanksgiving, but he would be equally happy on the floor or wall. . perhaps in a den or man cave. It measures 21 x 34. It was fun to hook on, and I love that the bright wools in his feathers are rather subtle from a distance. I used a lot of textured wools, that I dyed. As with all my big hooked pieces, this was finished off with cording and tapestry yarn to give it a nice finished edge. It comes with a letter that covers how to care for the rug, and its value for insurance. Fantail Turkey is a copyrighted Lib Callaway design, to which I own the rights. The pattern is available via my website New Earth Designs for a one time use to make your own rug.

Meet the Maker
I have always been attracted by colour and artistry, and enjoy working with fiber, paints, dyes and wool. I became a rug hooker in 1971, and for over 30 years it has been my occupation. As a certified instructor, I travel several times a year to teach this art. . and for it I dye wools, design and print patterns and hook as often as I can! Here will be finished items for sale, and eventually some dyed wools as well that are currently on Etsy. And perhaps a few other items as well!
