This batiked art apron was created for the GoImagine Women's History Challenge March 2022 as a statement and history of women's rights up to the present day.
In addition to all of the batik images that were inspired by Helen Reddy's song "I A Woman", there is some hand embroidery in the flame and in the second protest sign.
This can be:
- worn in the kitchen as an ironic statement, or at your next protest rally.
- Or it would make a large statement art piece for you to frame.
Over the batik, the ice dyed colors are purples, dark blue/greens and greens with some blacks and grays.
The woven cotton apron itself is handmade for us by Ivory's Hope in a retro half apron style with long back ties. It features two pockets. Fits women's sizes XL to 3XL. Length is 25 inches from top of waste band to bottom hem.

Hi! I'm Carol, owner & tie dye artist of High Hopes Dyes & Gifts. I realized a lot has changed in the past year, so an update is in order. I'm into my seventh year as a tie dyer, although now I'm no longer dyeing full-time. In July of 2022 I accepted a position in Herkimer, NY as a service coordinator for an independent living community for seniors and disabled persons. I absolutely love my job, but I still can't leave tie dyeing behind because I love, love, love creating and working with colors.
2023 is going to be hectic! In addition to the new job, our daughter is getting married to her high school sweetie.
Because of all this, I'm mainly focusing on custom orders, so please message me if I can help you.
The main things I want you to know about my tie dyes is:
- My chosen form of tie dyeing is ice dyeing, but I also dabble in liquid dyeing and am teaching myself batik in my spare time - although that's rare these days.
- My tie dyes are intense in color.
- The inspiration for my dyes comes from the designs of the 60's and 70s with free form patterns.
- Every item is sprinkled with love, joy, peace . . . and a whole lot of high hopes!

Shop Policies
All of our items ship within three business days, except for custom orders. Custom orders vary depending on item and/or quantity. Shipping is not included in most of our items, but we offer a choice of shipping options on most items depending on weight.
Returns are not accepted on any socks, custom dyed items, sale items, or any items that have been worn or used. We do not offer refunds; exchanges or credit only. Return shipping to High Hopes Dyes & Gifts is your financial responsibility and we will only offer the exchange or credit once we have received the item(s) and they are in mint condition. We are not responsible for late or lost mail, however we provide tracking on all packages. We add additional insurance on all orders over $50.
