About this Product
Ice-dyed for a one-of-a-kind pattern. The size is approximately 28" x 28”, though after dyeing and washing, they may be about 1" shorter. They have been washed in hot water to get out the excess dye, and I iron them so the patterns show well when being sold, but I never iron my own and I wash in warm water. The colors stay well and they are a bright and welcome addition to any kitchen.
Ice-dyeing is not tie-dyeing. The fabric can be folded, twisted, laid out, and basically manipulated many ways to create unique freeform patterns. Each item has different design elements. These towels are bold and distinct.
The pictures show you how they look folded lengthwise--you can change the predominant color and pattern just by turning it around or refolding the towel.
Please message me the color of which one(s) you like, and I will send you photos of what is currently in stock. I create one of each set of colors and patterns--each is one of a kind, but I can custom dye in specific colors; $17 each with free shipping for what is in stock and $20 for each custom dyed. The photos are examples of what they look like rather than specifically what's in stock.
These soft and absorbent towels are my most popular item, and I have many repeat customers.
If you don’t see colors you want, check back as I often add new ones. You can also request colors for an added 20% of the list price.

Meet the Maker
My name is Patt, spelled with 2 t's because I like to stand out from the many Patricias and Pats in this world.
Creating new, colorful art suits my multi-tasking lifestyle.
Born in San Francisco and raised on the Peninsula, I found knitting, then weaving as "indoor sports" after moving to the coast and experiencing summer’s heavy coastal fog.
Vivid colors and textures drive my work as a textile designer. I consider myself eclectic — I knit, weave, felt, dye, and design and create jewelry. My passion is blending colors and textures into jewelry and textile designs while not following rules and doing the expected. I strive for wearable art pieces - my works are one of a kind. I create unusual pieces and prefer being ahead of the crowd rather than part of it.
Ice-dyeing led me to dye textiles for fashion designers. My work has sold in stores and at craft shows 4 to 5 times a year. I love the in-person selling, but like many artists, the pandemic forced me online, which has been a bonus because now I have new customers from all over the country.
I started online as Patt711 on Etsy and success encouraged me to add GoImagine.com with its new give-back concept. If you live in or visit the SF Bay Area around Thanksgiving, I also participate in Open Studios in November and that information can be found on our website: www.colonyofcoastsideartists.com
I hope you enjoy my art as much as I do creating it.

How it’s Made
A simplified version: Fabric is dyed by using soda ash as a mordant (fixative that sets the color), then laid out with ice over it. Powder dye is applied and randomly sifts through the ice creating unique and unpredictable patterns. Wait 24 hours, then rinse thoroughly and wash.
