With the name Peruvian Turquoise, I thought I had come across a new type of turquoise that I hadn't seen before. After making the purchase, I did some research and discovered that this is actually a form of chrysocolla from Peru that got it's trade name simply due to it's similar appearance to genuine turquoise.
Since then, I have educated myself and vowed to always know what I am buying before I buy it. I now know how to tell the difference between fake/dyed stones, resin, glass, and stones sold under another name. Then, once I started my business, I vowed to never sell a stone under false pretenses or without knowing the true identity of the stone I was advertising.
