It is fitted with two ceramic disc magnets that are 19.05mm x 4.75mm. The size and combination has strong magnetic strength.
I complete each piece with a sealed layer of mod podge to protect the surface and add shine. Please allow for the possibility of small air bubbles in the sealant.

Meet the Maker
Hi! My name is Caitlin, but you can also call me Lin, or Lin the Elf (especially if you're a fellow fantasy nerd).
I am in pursuit of all things creative and I appreciate you being here to witness my journey. Here at my store you will find one-of-a-kind magnets I make by collaging printed images onto kitchen tile. I enjoy the search for unique and fun cutouts and the challenge of combining them into a new visual story. I am also a canvas painter and illustrator. My paintings are created with many layers of mixed media, paint, and usually some bright colors. My illustrations combine watercolors with pen and ink.
Putting a visual to the thoughts and feelings that I lack language for is a process that drives me. My love of drawing and painting led me to study at Maine College of Art, where I earned my BFA in 2008. I find inspiration most often in nature, science fiction, and the challenge of making the mundane into something more.
When I'm not creating art, I love doing yin yoga, as it helps remind me that I'm a human with an actual body. I can often be found hanging out with my muse and moral support cat, Merlin, my other cutie cat, Toes, and my husband, Alex. I enjoy going for long walks around the city of Providence and getting purposefully lost amongst the bricks and old New England houses, bonus points if it's early morning and/or foggy.

How it’s Made
I've acquired many different types of magazines (all up-cycled) from various places including friends and yard sales. The fun of the process is finding a magazine that has an interesting subject with good photos to compliment it. I'm always on the lookout for animal, food or Halloween themes as the subject.
After looking through the material of interest, I cut out appealing images with sharp scissors or an exact knife. Sometimes there's an image I want to use and I'll search through magazines for other images, patterns or backgrounds to pair with it. Other times I'll spread out all the already cut out materials to see what pairs well together. I then chose a tile that will fit the image best.
The images are applied onto the tile with mod podge. Once dry, I add a thick protective coating of mod podge to the front of the tile. The final step is to apply strong ceramic d magnets to the back of the tile with gorilla glue.
