You see, sausages are a Soviet person's kryptonite. Sausages and smoked meats kept for a long time without refrigeration and were easily mass produced so that's exactly what the Soviet Union did. Doktorskaya, livernaya, oddeskaya, stolichnaya, lyubitelskaya... smoked meats are simply part of our DNA.
