About this Product

I think I enjoy making these sets as much as children love playing with them, and this is one of the most ambitious play sets I have ever made. What child doesn’t like animals, and wouldn’t like to have a pony of their own? That may be possible for only a very few, but this set can make it possible for any child with an imagination. There are plenty of items here to capture a child’s imagination and provide them with many hours of fun, all without ever leaving the house.• All items were handcrafted from hardwoods
• The barn is red with a green roof and it measures about 10” long, 8 ½” wide, 9 ¼” high
• The barn can be taken apart for more compact storage (one of the photos sows the barn taken apart)
• The car is 7” long, 5” high, and 2 ½” wide
• The trailer is 8 ¼” long, 5 7/8” high and 2 7/8” high
• There are 14 fence sections your child can use to surround the property and they each measure 5” long, 2 ½” high, and ¾” thick
• Five trees can be located inside or outside the fence and they are each 6” high, 3 ¼” wide, and 5/8” thick
• Six hay bales can be placed inside or outside the barn, and they are 2 7/8” long, 1 ½” high and 1 ½” wide
• There are 3 horses, measuring 6 7/8” long, 5 1/8” high, and ¾” thick
• The 3 ponies are all 4 7/8” long, 4” high, and ¾” thick
• The two girls are 4 ¾” high, 2 7/8” wide, and ¾” thick
• The two boys are 5 1/8” tall, 2 7/8” wide, and ¾” thick
• The boys and girls can either ride one of the horses or stand on their own
• What farm would be complete without a dog or two? In this case, there are 2, and they are both 3 ½” long, 2 5/8” high, and ¾” thick
• Materials used are: oak, coffee wood, sapele, aspen, and poplar
• Paints used are child safe, and the animals have all been completed with a child safe oil finish

Meet the Maker

I am a U.S. Army Vietnam veteran, and have an MBA with a marketing concentration. I worked in retail management, then outside sales in the HVAC and refrigeration industry. I drove a limo for a year, then went to work at a large for-profit university. I worked as an admissions officer, then moved into student finance. I was also an adjunct faculty member, teaching courses in marketing. I retired in January 2020 and now devote as many hours as I wish per week to my woodworking business.

My wife of 50 years and I live in a rural area about 50 miles southwest of Chicago. Our two grandchildren live in Georgia so we do not see them as often as we  would like. Woodworking began as a hobby, then I started selling at local craft shows in this area area and later moved to online sales. I enjoy making wooden toys and home decor items and have shipped over 1,000 orders all over the U.S. and even as far away as Australia. All my products are made from sustainable hardwoods such as poplar, oak, maple, and walnut which I purchase locally.
