Meet the Maker

Serendipity: noun: the faculty or phenomenon of finding valuable or agreeable things not sought for (Merriam Webster Dictionary)

I have been involved in design in one way or another most of my life. I recently transitioned from designing bridal veils, jewelry, headpieces to designing stitch markers for knitting and crochet. As a designer, I am influenced by couture formalwear and jewelry from the 1930’s Art Deco to 1950’s Mid Century Modern.

Years ago I fell down the glorious rabbit hole of knitting and fell in love with lace knitting. A lace shawl can need over 30 stitch markers! I wasn’t satisfied with the plastic rings and safety pins that are commonly available. Other stitch marker designs made caused concern because their design looked like there was potential for snagging yarn. So I dug into my stash of beads, wire and findings that I have from making bridal accessories which eventually evolved into Knitter’s Serendipity.

Quality jewelry findings are chosen so that Serendipity Stitch Markers are snag free. Quality glass, crystal, gemstone beads are chosen for their smooth finish and how they feel in one’s fingers. I make sure that all joins and wraps are smooth so your yarn will not be snagged.

My hope is that my stitch markers will bring a bit of Serendipity to your knitting and crochet projects, add some zing to your Works in Progress and help keep your stitches in order.
