Ela Handcrafted Jewelry
Meet the Maker
Welcome! My name is Anna, a Brazilian transplant growing roots in Nashville, TN. Ela Handcrafted was born from the union of a creative outlet with a social call for conscious consumption. Using Mother Nature as source of inspiration and resources, I'm committed to respecting it by using sustainable practices. Most of the materials I use are second-hand, repurposed, recycled or donated. When I do need to buy new materials, I give preference to small, local suppliers or companies committed to fair trade. Everything I use, from business cards to packaging and shipping, adheres to the same philosophy of respect for our environment and minimal consumption.
"Ela" means she in Portuguese, my native language. It's my tribute to women's creative and regenerative power. Ela's mission is to uplift women through creative collaboration and financial support. With every purchase, 20% is donated to organizations that empower women. Currently, my chosen organization is Thistle Farms, a non-profit in Nashville, TN, that for 25 years has helped women survivors of human trafficking, prostitution, and addiction. Donations will be delivered quarterly.
I also enjoy re-arranging your existing jewelry into something new, like a piece that has sentimental value but no longer fits. Message me for more info.

How it’s Made
The buriti silk is extracted from the buriti palm trees (Mauritia flexuosa), found throughout Brazil and South America. I source the silk cords directly from artisans in Brazil who extract the silk from the leaves in a sustainable way and hand weave the thin cords. The cords are lightweight and delicate, yet strong.
The amethyst chipped beads were salvaged from a box of semi-precious stones that I bought in a local estate auction.
The majority of the materials I use are salvaged, repurposed, recycled, up-cycled, found and donated. New materials are bought from local, family-owned, women-owned or fare trade businesses.
