Michael Reed Wood Artisan
Meet the Maker
Hello and welcome to my shop! My name is Michael Reed and I am a green wood artisan from Waterloo Iowa. I am a traditional wood carver utilizing only a handful of simple hand tools on my work. I started out making small figures for my daughters and have since found my niche hand carving beautiful wooden spoons, bowls, and charcuterie boards. I live with my wife, two daughters, and 10,000 tons of wood shavings. Thank you so much for visiting my shop, feel free to reach out with any questions.

How it’s Made
All my spoons are carved using simple hand tools very similar to how someone would have carved a spoon 200 years ago. I used fresh or green wood and start from a full log. All of my wood is salvaged from downed trees on my family farm or waste wood I am able to salvage from my community.
Shop Policies
Note: All products will feature the "M" brand on bottom or back even if now shown in photo.
Processing Time: I always strive to get products out the door quickly after orders are placed. Usual turn around time for shipping after an order is placed is around 2 days.
Return Policy: I do not have a standard return policy but I do stand behind my products 100%. I make every item listed and have a very high standard that each item must meet. If there is any defect or issue with a product I will make it right. Just reach out and I will do my best to make sure everyone is satisfied in the event an issue arrises.
Care Instructions: My spoons, bowls, and cutting boards are made for daily use, unless noted otherwise on an individual item. None of my products are dishwasher safe. Best practice so that my wooden wares will last you a lifetime, is to hand wash with warm soapy water after use. Allow wares to air dry before putting them away. Occasional reapplication of a food grade oil will help extend the life of your wooden products even longer. If you have any care related questions please reach out, I would love to help!
